Models exist because machinery does not. A standby generating set, a marine main engine, a mine haul truck, a press hydraulic circuit and an industrial gearbox share the same contamination physics but almost nothing else — sump volume, flow rate, operating temperature, duty cycle, mounting space and the dominant contaminant all differ. The model range exists so that the dialysis duty can be matched to the oil volume and the application rather than forcing every installation through one size of unit.

How a Model Is Selected

Selection is an engineering exercise, not a catalogue pick. The questions that decide it are consistent: how much oil is in the system, how hard is it working, what is actually degrading the charge, how many hours a year does the machine run, and what does an unplanned stoppage cost. Existing oil analysis is the most useful thing a prospective user can bring to the conversation, because it shows whether the problem is soot, water, fuel dilution, wear metals or oxidation — and that determines the duty the unit has to meet.

Installation and Integration

Dialysis units work on a side-stream, which means they are installed alongside the existing lubrication circuit rather than in place of the full-flow filtration the equipment manufacturer specified. That matters for two reasons. The host machine keeps its original protection and its warranty position stays straightforward, and the installation can usually be done during a planned maintenance window without redesigning the oil system.

Proving the Result

Whichever model is fitted, the measurement regime is the same. Baseline oil analysis before installation, scheduled sampling afterwards, and a decision on service intervals based on the trend.
